Cory!! sits down with Lance Ward, artist of books such as K-Mart Shoes and Adults Only. They discuss his journey toward being a comics artist, his inclusion in the most recent Best American Comics volume and a large number of self-published books. He discusses his struggles with mental illness, health issues and how he has been able to use his art to help others.

Lance Ward was a National editorial cartoonist for Crowded Comics.com.. He is the author of such books as “KLONKO”, “One Day in 1978” and “Stovetop”, which was published by Creator’s Edge Press. He is also the author of the critically acclaimed “Kmart Shoes” which, for the time being, can be found for sale at Amazon.com or Createspace.com.. His cartoons have appeared in The Pulse magazine, the Cedar magazine and the City Pages. In 2011, he was featured artist for the “Just Add Ink” art show at Altered Esthetics Art Gallery. This is merely the tip of the mountain of accomplishments by the Great Lance Ward.

Cory was introduced to Jayro’s work on the episode of Kray Z Comics and Stories where they discussed artist who need more attention, and was blown away by his work. I told someone earlier this week that while I joking call myself and my podcast a National Treasure, but Liz Safian Berube is the Real Deal and is a bona fide National Treasure. She worked as a colorist for Archie and DC, her own comic strip and countless pages for the DC Romance comics. I sit down with her to talk about her life, her art and all sorts of other things. Michael Allred is a Legend in comics.  No, that’s not hyperbole, he was in the group Legends after being in the comics business for 4 years, and he has created some of the best comics of the last 20 years including Madman, X-Statics, FF, iZombie and the current Silver Surfer series.  In this episode, he talks about how he got into the comics business, his career before comics and his artistic works outside of comics as well as stories about series he has created and worked on.  Come on, you know you want to know where Doop came from, right?
