Kray Z Comics and Stories 281: We Don’t Know What The Hell We’re Doing

Cory!! and Joe talk about how cold it is, how they are going to spend their overtime pay and other stuff before they get into the meat of the episode. Wait, meat? Cory!! is a vegetarian, can we do that? Anyone?

OK, the THEME of the episode starts with talking about if the “multicultural heroes” switches are selling or not and is Marvel/DC making a mistake by doing this. They go over sales trends, outside sales and the like to give a full picture of where the comics market is at right now. Boy, that sounds serious. Thank goodness Joe makes a bunch of Dad jokes and weird non-sequitur comments to keep you from thinking we know that we are talking about.

They then get into how the market is moving the last six months, the difference between sales to shops and sales and why Diamond tightening up on Credit can mess with your local shop. They also discuss:

  • Joe gets his dates on Secret Wars all mixed up.
  • One of Joe’s friends talks about why he doesn’t read as much Marvel any more.
  • Borrowing comics and eBooks from the library
  • Why some of the comics super-stars of the 90’s wandered off from comics
  • Hastings has gone under, how did that affect comics distribution?
  • Going over how a comic shop died due to not having credit or information on how Diamond works
  • How Marvel and DC drive the market and when they have a downturn, how does that hurt the market.
  • They discuss Cyncialman

All of this, the usual shenanigans and the proverbial much, much more!
