Solitaire Rose Radio 14: Interview with Greg Theakston Part 2

We pick up right where we pick up with Greg Theakston, and we talk about more of his career. He talks about starting publishings back in his apartment in 1974, being there are Martin Goodman shut down his magazine line, rush inking jobs of the 70’s and so much more. He talks about deadlines, fighting them and the artists he helped out on them.

We also discuss Jack Kirby, Super Powers, the end of the New Gods and the creation of The Hunger Dogs, DC in 80’s, why Greg didn’t work in comics as much as you would think, and many o0ther topics.

Greg has had a far ranging career from publishing books about Bettie Page to working with Jack Kirby, and his stories are a look at comic book history.

Solitaire Rose Radio Episode 13: Interview with Greg Theakston Part 1

March comes in like a lion with the return of Solitaire Rose Radio.  It all starts with the first part of a Greg Theakston interview. Greg has worked in inking comics, painting paperback covers, publishing comics, and many, many other things. Cory calls him up for a conversation about his life in comics starting with the first comic he remembers reading up to the work he has done preparing classic comic art for reproduction and printing incredible volumes himself of the comic book masters like Kirby, Toth and Ditko among others.

Along the way he talks about the comics he read as a child, his work putting together early comic book conventions, working for Jim Steranko, his friendship and work with Jack Kirby, and much, more more.
