Kray Z Comics and Stories 64: Jay and Not So Silent Terry’s Secret Stash

We start the episode with Walking Dead Spoilers! Joe can’t wait! So if you don’t want to know what happened on last week’s episode, skip to about 14 minutes into the episode any you’ll also miss Joe spoiling the last 6 months or so of WWE Wrestling. Like you care about THOSE spoilers.

Our Tales from the Shop this week is about two shops that Joe visited out in New Jersey, including the infamous Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash.

We then have our first PUBLISHED interview, or recorded interview that has made it to the show…with Terrance Griep, writer of Scooby Doo, Professional Wrestler and prose author. Kray Z Comics and Stories 63: Cricketpalooza

Joe and Cory start talking about SpringCon, the big 2 day convention in St. Paul. Big warning, Joe must have found a joke book, since he’s all over the place for most of the episode. They jump in with Geeking and Freaking.

Cory is geeking on the special issue of Jack Kirby Collector 58 that goes into detail on the 102 issue run of the Fantastic Four. Cory is also reading the new Creeper hardcover filled with stories by Steve Ditko

Joe is geeking on the upcoming Dr Who/ Star Trek crossover and the Star Trek novel he took out to New Jersey with him. He discusses how the books are moving forward with the TV continuity and how they are using the Borg in the novels. Cory also chimes in about the novels he is reading, the Elmore Leonard “Raylan Givens” novels. He couldn’t remember the name, but the one he is reading is “Riding the Rap” and the other one is Pronto.

This leads to a discussion of DVD commentaries and different version fo movies and if you need to buy them or not and why Cory won’t buy Blue Ray.

Freaking leads to a discussion of comics sales figures (Cory thinks they are pretty scary), which actually leads to a talk about downloading stuff from iTunes and a LOAD of Walking Dead spoilers. The other freaking Cory has is that Marvel is going to a Self-Cover format. What is Self Cover? LISTEN TO THE DAMN EPISODE!!! Geez, people, do we have to do everything for you?

Kray Z Comics and Stories Episode 62: The Mystery Revealed!

Not a lot of time for a recap, so here goes:  Cory tries to keep things on task while Joe throws in a bunch of silliness.  That’s pretty much every show, right?

In this episode they talk about where Joe is hiding, Cancelled Comics Cavalcade, the wonders of the library, Muhammad Ali beating the crap out of Superman, the infamous water gun wars and how soap bubbles react when it is 35 below zero.  All this and much much more in this week’s episode!

Kray Z Comics and Stories Episode 61: Moving Day

We start off with a NEW episode of “Where in the world is Joe Rider”, since Joe has been called up to travel somewhere. We’ll send a cookie to anyone who can guess where Joe has been sent. He’d like to know, since he had to go with only a day’s notice. This leads to a discussion of having comics and other geeky things ready in case you have to quickly travel or do an extra overnight shift. Cory explains why they haven’t had a new show for the last couple of weeks.

As we get into the show, Cory talks about the passing of John Severin and explains a little about his career. That’s right, they really don’t start talking about the stuff around the show itself until about 15 minutes into the show. We know Cory loves Wrestlecrap radio, but does he have to rip off THAT part of the show?

This leads to Geeking and Freaking: Joe is geeking about the things he brought to read on his most recent assignment, and Cory is geeking about some older comics stories and DVDs series that he brings to watch on his overnights. Cory break the news as to what Brian Michael Bendis will be working on after he leaves the Avengers books…well, they discuss the rumor that is circulating. When we get to Tales From The Shop, they first talk about the show “Comic Book Men” and how it’s pretty rare that rare, cool things were brought in by people to sell and the show has for to five cool things every episode.

We then have ANOTHER Tales From The Shop story as one of the local shops is moving to a new location, and Joe tells the story of when he moved from a small store to a larger store right next door! All this and the usual shenanigans and foolishness!

Kray Z Comics and Stories 60: Before Before Watchmen

Joe begins the episode by explaining who the city of Chaska is named after. I can’t explain the stuff, I just tell you about it. When they start talking comics, they discuss the closing of Dreamhaven Books, the people they met there, the celebration Dreamhaven held and the stuff they bought. After they talk about the shop, Cory talks about his running through all four seasons of Mad Men in two weeks, DVD commentary and redheads. Always redheads.

When we do Geeking and Freaking, Cory is geeking about Spider-Man and the AMC lineup while Joe is geeking on giveaway comics.

Oh, enough of the prelims. Cory and Joe talk about “Before Watchmen!” They argue and…OK, Cory bellyaches about it and Joe is much more reasonable. They also discuss the issues of creator’s rights, history around Watchmen and much, much more. All of this and the usual shenanigans!
